This is a great example of a student experimental film, looking at the topic of fluidity. The concept is simple link is dropped into a tank of clear water and filmed the reaction. This type of experimental film would fit into the Pure and Simple category, which I am planning on choosing. The other Categories include; Experimental Documentary, Time lapse/ Animated, Screen Dance film, and Fashion Film.

Vlogging Progression
I have created an account and purchases some music to be used on my vlogging channel on youtube. All the music and sound effects are royalty free and are categorized into themes so that I can find the best style of music for my videos.
Animated Short Film Idea 2
The second idea for my independent animated film, is a personal story about my Grandfather. The story will be a journey that we used to take from my grandparents house to the local store, to pick up the newspaper. The story will illustrate my relationship with my grandfather and show myself growing up and my grandfather growing old.
Animated Short Film Idea 1

Physics is one of my greatest interests and one that I am constantly learning more about. In particular I am passionate about Astronomy, the study of space. Michio Kaku is one of the worlds foremost physicists and co founder of String theory.

This is a digitally created image of what scientists believe string theory looks like on a super microscopic level. In Physics, string theory is a theoretical framework in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings.
My idea is to make an educational science film explaining the string theory or another scientific theory that children might find hard to understand.

Diertation Proposal Research

My dissertation proposal is on the psychology of film and how audiences are manipulated by subliminal messaging. I will also be looking at the Halo Effect and how it effects our outlook on other people and our own life. To do this I researched some of Derren Browns work which give an interesting take on the psychology of audience manipulation, he conducted many experiments to show how audiences can be influenced.
Essay Research

Slavoj Zizek is a Slovenian psychoanalytic philosopher, cultural critic, and a Marxist scholar. He is a senior researcher at the Institute for Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana. He is famous for his theories on ideology and even made a film called a perverts guide to cinema which illustrates the power to be able to see ideology. Using his theory I was able to dissect the movies that we studied in our lectures.
It's A Wonderful Life : Essay Research
The essay title was: Hollywood has been accused of reinforcing dominant values and stereotypes in its films; do you agree? Illustrate with a case study chosen from the films on the module. The recomended film to answer this question and one of the first films that we watched in our lecture was It's a wonderful life directed by Frank Carpa, and stars James Stewart and Donna Reed.

The film illustrates many Hollwood stereotypes and values and was a great film to study that showcased great examples of directing, cinematography and acting.
Russian Animation : Introduction to Global Context

The full short film can be seen here. The artwork is beautiful and is accompanied by excellent sound effects and visual effects.
Summer Client Work : Backgrounds
Over the summer I was approached by Bite the Ballot, an organisation that works with the British Council to push young people to take up there vote in the elections. They asked me if i could make background pieces for an event that would take place that summer. Each individual background would accompany a person which would conduct a speech about a specific person.
Mountain Tests : Client Work
This is a basic outline animatic of a mountain explosion scene without colour. It is a foundation before i would go back in and colour it in.
This is a colour still of one of the establishing mountain shots of the animation. I have used an effective technique on flash professional to create this layered mountain image.
This still is of the jaguars roar, it is a scene where the mountain transforms momentarily into the jaguar and roars in pain as the natural Mexican landscape becomes industrial.
This is a completed scene in the animation of the jaguar mountain on fire. I animated the fire using flash professional and added effects including smoke to create a sense of realism.

Black and White Acrylic : Life Drawing
This piece was produced in a life drawing class, in which we had to place the model figures into a background of our choice. However we had to use a mixture of black and white acrylic paint, to create shades that would provide tone.
Lighting and Textures : Life Drawing
In this class we drew the life model from three rotated angles and then used three shades of black and white acrylic paint to add texture and tone to the drawings. Each figure was painted using a different technique. The most effect I think is the center drawing as the blochiness of the paint accurat
Split Figures : Life Drawing
This set of three drawings is a combination of two life models in the same poses. The first drawing is a vertical split, the second was a horizontal split, and the third is a Frankenstein split which is multiple horizontal splits. I think the center drawing with one horizontal split turned out the best as it was far easier to connect the two halves of the models, and I had plenty of time to add additional detail into the drawings.
Small Figures, Quick drawing : Life Drawing
Sketchbook Work : Life Drawing
These are a selection of life drawings from my sketchbook. They were part of a life drawing class and we were given the freedom to decide how long we needed for each drawing and were we wanted to be seated around the room. I like the way all three drawings turned out as i had plenty of time to complete them and the proportions are accurate.
Thumbnail Story board and Extra Sketches
These three storyboards are taken from my sketchbook and were part of the client work that we produced. They are thumbnail, quick sketches that illustrate the basic outline of the story in the animation. The images are accompanied by a few sentences to further explain the scene.
These sketches are extra work in my sketchbook that I produced outside university. I am trying to develop my portrait skills, specifically facial features and realism.
Hand Sketches : Life Drawing
These drawings were drawn in my sketchbook and were part of a life drawing class looking specifically at hands. The priority of these drawings was to try and get the proportions and shapes correctly. I am pleased with the set of three hands on the second page as they were more accurate and to scale.
Coloured ChalkDrawings : Life Drawing
This is a collective group photo of everyone in the class's life drawing pieces. We were allowed a choice of coloured chalk to add skin tone to our drawings. It was interesting to see which colours gave the best results.
These are my two drawings shaded with chalk. I am most pleased with the purple figure, as I think that the drawing is stronger and so is the shading. I think that the purple colour is also a better shade to use when adding tone.
